Role Summary

The Social Media Manager is the hands-on, day-to-day manager of all official CLG social media profiles. The purpose of this role is to own and execute our social content strategy and tell the story of our players and teams while growing our audience and engagement across our channels. This role will maintain consistent updates across all CLG social accounts, and lead fan engagement on those accounts.

The ideal candidate is passionate about social media and will possess a deep understanding of how gamers and esports fans digest and engage with social content, an eye for detail, and stay up-to-date on cultural trends, emerging platforms, and industry best practices. This position reports to the Manager, Digital Content, and will collaborate with the marketing team to develop content for team & player coverage, tentpole events, marketing partnerships, community engagement, and more.

Specific Functions/Activities Summary

  • Take lead on the ideation and execution of engaging social content and campaigns including images, videos, gifs, memes, scene-lifts, stories & short-form content, etc. across all official CLG accounts.
  • Create, manage, and execute the social content calendar in collaboration with the marketing, partnerships, video, and player ops teams.
  • Accurately and professionally represent the tone and voice of CLG and partner brands through social media communication and engagement.
  • Live remote and in-person coverage of CLG events including matches, tournaments, community initiatives, and other team events with the goal to produce compelling content that captures fans’ attention.
  • Stay up-to-date on best-in-class content, competitor activities, internet trends, new uses of social platforms, and innovative ideas to provide actionable recommendations for senior leadership and/or clients.
  • Manage, update, and deliver analytics and insights to inform on community and ecosystem sentiment, and fan feedback; optimize and implement feedback to foster engagement.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including players, streamers, and content creators to provide social content guidance and best practices ad communications updates in the content they’re involved with.
  • Set monthly and yearly social media goals and track social performance/engagement metrics to make recommendations for improvement in audience growth and brand development.

  • 3-5 years experience working in the esports industry in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce content that resonates across social platforms.
  • Deep understanding of major social platforms (Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, etc.), and an ability to use each effectively.
  • Established history of embracing and unlocking new social platforms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media management and reporting tools and platforms
  • Prior experience developing social media strategies, including paid campaigns.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with proven experience writing, editing, and crafting content for social media.
  • Knowledgeable about esports, gaming, entertainment, popular culture, cross-platform storytelling, and the CLG brand.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop and Adobe Premiere.
  • Photography, design, or video editing experience is a plus.
  • Ability to think creatively outside the box.

Candidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
